[also posted in "projects" area -- sorry, not sure which is better...]

I just added a blog post about the conditional permit we received to install this as an experimental septic system on our new house build in a very rural off grid property. It's at our blog BrownKawa.com

It is mainly introducing the concept and the fact that we got a permit; build info and photos will come in a later blog post.

To support others looking to go this route, I recommend googling "peer reviewed research vermifilter" and then follow up by finding references from the bibliographies of the articles you find there. Our permit took 2 years and lots of persistence, patience, and politeness!

We just finished building our vermifilter septic system, and I am sharing in case others are interested.

Here is a blog post about our permitting process.

Here is another blog post about our build.

The system is still months away from being in operation, since we haven't plumbed our house yet... but we will be taking water quality data quarterly for at least the first year to assess the effluent coming out of the tank. We were required to install a drainfield for the purposes of our permit, but are also eager to see if the effluent is suitable for irrigation.
